Overview

Definition

  • Philosophy is the rational, methodical, and systematic study of fundamental questions regarding existence, knowledge, ethics, reason, and reality, originating from the Greek for “love of wisdom”.
  • Philosophy, unlike science, often focuses on evaluating arguments and defining the meaning of concepts (e.g., “What is justice?”) rather than performing empirical experiments.
    • It teaches individuals how to think, rather than what to think, fostering critical thinking skills applicable to daily life, ethics, and professional fields like law and technology.
